Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, strongly criticized Israel ("Zionist regime") for its "unsuccessful attempts" to forge closer ties with regional countries. Kanaani's remarks followed Israeli President Isaac Herzog's visit to Baku, where he held extensive discussions with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding what they claim to be Iran's threat to regional stability. Kanaani cautioned that the Islamic Republic of Iran's vigilant gaze would not miss any regional moves made by the Zionist regime, asserting that Israel's endeavors to expand its regional presence would not alleviate the inherent instability within the regime. Furthermore, he emphasized that the Zionist regime is widely despised worldwide and has no future. In March, Tehran criticized Baku for its alliance with Israel in forming a united front against Iran.
