According to Seyed Hamid Hosseini, a member of the Iranian Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Products Exporters Union (OPEX), Iran is making significant strides toward becoming a prominent gas hub in the Middle East. Recalling a gas shortage experienced last winter, particularly in the northeastern part close to Turkmenistan, Hosseini stated that this year, a portion of Iran's gas demand could be met through imports from Turkmenistan, adding that gas imports from Turkmenistan will contribute to the supply of raw material for Iran's petrochemical complexes. Hosseini suggested that Iran should have fostered its gas sector relations with Turkmenistan in previous years, commending the current administration for seizing the opportunity and resolving the gas.
