Two senior segments of Iran’s military structure—the IRGC’s missile command and the Army’s air defense forces—sustained significant losses during the recent conflict with Israel. Brigadier General Javad Pourrajabi, who had recently taken over missile operations, was killed in an Israeli strike. At the same time, the Army confirmed the deaths of 35 air defense personnel during attacks on key military sites.

Brigadier General Javad Pourrajabi, who recently assumed command of the IRGC Aerospace Force’s missile operations following the killing of Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, in an Israeli airstrike on 13 June, was killed in a subsequent Israeli strike less than two weeks later.

Pourrajabi had taken over responsibilities for overseeing missile deployment, launch coordination, and maintaining the operational readiness of Iran’s strategic missile forces. He was tasked with managing post-strike recovery efforts and continuity of deterrence operations.

His death marks the second loss of a senior IRGC missile commander during the recent escalation, signaling continued Israeli targeting of key figures within Iran’s missile infrastructure.

In a related development, the Iranian Army’s Public Relations Office announced that 35 members of the Army’s Air Defense Force were killed during Israeli airstrikes in the recent conflict. The statement described the fallen as having "sacrificed their lives in defense of the Islamic system and confrontation with the Zionist regime," underscoring their role in countering aerial attacks targeting critical infrastructure.

The announcement, published by the state-affiliated Shabestan News Agency, emphasized both condolences and pride, addressing the Supreme Leader, the military leadership, and the families of the deceased. The Army expressed hope for divine patience for the families and referred to the casualties as “brave defenders of the homeland.”

“Brave defenders of the homeland.”
